Diabetes patients to get drivers' licenses

RIGARegulations preventing Latvia's diabetes patients from obtaining a driver's license could be scrapped by May, according to the Health Ministry.If approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, new regulations will allow diabetes patients in Latvia to get a drivers' license upon passing a special medical test and obtaining an endocrinologist's diagnosis."These amendments will be the patients' victory for their rights," said Gunta Freimane, secretary of the Latvian Diabetes Association.The regulations presently in effect were called "absurd and discriminating" by the association and the Latvian En...
