Women's Day maintains its tenuous hold on Estonia

TALLINNInternational Women's Day on March 8 was one of the most important dates in the Soviet calendar. It was supposedly a celebration of all things womanly, with everyone from girls to grandmothers being honored. For one day, at least, the men cooked, cleaned and pampered the women in their lives. But with each passing year the prestige that March 8 once held seems to be fading as more and more Estonians, especially the younger generation, are shrugging off what many consider an outdated Soviet tradition.This begs the question - Do Estonians take International Women's Day seriously enough...
