Brazauskas approved by ParliamentThe Seimas (Lithuania's parliament) restated on March 4 its confidence in the current government by approving the candidacy of the Social Democrats' leader Algirdas Brazauskas for prime minister. Brazauskas, whose candidacy was proposed by President Rolandas Paksas, was supported by 82 parliamentarians and objected by 12, with 18 lawmakers abstaining. Only 112 out of Lithuania's 141 MPs participated in the ballot. Brazauskas was supported for the post by factions of the ruling Social Democratic faction and the New Union, the Liberal Democrats and the Farmers...
