Denmark extends house arrest for ex-Iraqi army chief

COPENHAGENA Danish judge on Feb. 21 extended by four weeks the house arrest of exiled former Iraqi army chief Nizar al-Khazraji as authorities continued a probe into war crimes allegations against him.The ruling is aimed at preventing Khazraji, who has enjoyed refugee status in Denmark since 1999 and who has been charged with war crimes for chemical weapon attacks on Iraqi Kurds in the 1980s, from fleeing the country.Khazraji's lawyer, Anders Josefson, had tried to convince the Soroe court southwest of Copenhagen to release his client, who has been under house arrest since November."Given t...
