Slim majority in favor of joining NATO

RIGAJust more than half of Latvians questioned in a recent survey believe speedy entry into NATO is an iron-clad security guarantee and in the country's best long-term interest.According to a poll conducted by the Riga-based SKDS company, 54.7 percent of the 1,000 respondents were in favor of quickly joining NATO, while about 15.6 percent were firmly opposed to joining and 19.6 percent skeptical of joining.
