Baltics make inroads against HIV

Despite a lack of coordinated efforts among the Baltic states in combating the spread of AIDS, a significant decrease of new HIV cases was registered in both Latvia and Estonia last year, according to AIDS prevention centers in Riga and Tallinn. But according to the World Health Organization's classification, the Baltics are experiencing a concentrated HIV epidemic - meaning that the disease has surpassed 5 percent in a risk group.
