Latvian navy gets Norwegian mine ship

RIGALatvia's navy became one ship bigger on Jan. 27 when the Vale, a Norwegian mine layer, was handed over in an official ceremony attended by ministerial leaders.On a gray and windy afternoon at Riga Passenger Port, in the presence of Latvian Minister of Defense Girts Valdis Kristovskis and State Secretary of the Norwegian Defense Ministry Gunnar Heloe, as well as commanders of both countries' navies, the Vale's Norwegian flag was lowered and replaced with the red-and-white mast of the Latvian Naval Forces.
