TALLINNA court endorsed a settlement Jan. 7 in a simplified proceeding in the trial of Avo Viiol, ex-director of the national cultural foundation Kultuurkapital accused of stealing a large sum of the foundation's money. State prosecutor Piret Paukstys and Viiol had agreed to a plea bargain under which Viiol would go to jail for two years and eight months. The deal was endorsed by the Tallinn City Court.
