VISIT PLANNED: Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe High Commissioner Max van der Stoel has confirmed his visit to Latvia Aug. 25, according to the Latvian Foreign Ministry. The commissioner has said on this trip he is willing to discuss Latvia's state language law which he claims breaches human rights. The Parliament passed the law in June, but President Vaira Vike-Freiberga refused to sign it until revisions had been made.
