Possible changes in media law cause stir

VILNIUS - The Lithuanian media moguls strongly oppose a set of amendments to the media law claiming the changes will bring censorship. The amendments to the 1996 Law on the Provision of Information to the Public would call for the creation of an information protection commission to help draw up a more comprehensive system of media regulations. The changes are authored by Christian Democrat MP Arimantas Raskinis, member of the Parliament committee on education, science and culture, and the chairman of the Parliament subcommittee on culture.
