Finnish expert rejects explosion theory

TALLINN (BNS) - A Finnish technical expert who investigated the 1994 sinking of the ferry Estonia has dismissed the theory that explosives helped sink the boat.Tuomo Karppinen, a member of the Finnish contingent on the three-nation commission that investigated the catastrophe, said the bow visor of the Estonia was investigated very thoroughly immediately after the disaster, but it showed no traces of explosives, the Tallinn-based daily Ohtuleht reported.An investigator for Meyer Werft, the German shipyard that built the ferry, earlier this month came out with the contention that explosives...
