RIGA - The opening of Latvia's new refugee center at Mucenieki is turning paupers to princes. Following much criticism for its treatment of refugees, and the conditions they are held in, Latvia, with help from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and foreign governments, officially opened a refugee reception center Feb. 12.The center, located 15 kilometers outside of Riga, is equipped to provide a temporary home for up to 250 refugees and asylum seekers while their cases are being considered or they look for employment.Residents of the new open center will be able to study Latv...
