RIGA (BNS) - The council of the For Fatherland and Freedom party has nominated Janis Priedkalns, the country's permanent representative to the United Nations, as its presidential candidate for 1999.Party Chairman Maris Grinblats said Priedkalns is familiar with officials in the West as well as with Latvia's political life and development, and speaks several languages fluently.
