Latvia decries 'leftists' at Lattelekom rally

RIGA - Leather jackets, too many demonstrators and leftists among the guests - almost 1 percent according to government figures - that the Latvian government found objectionable at a Jan. 19 rally against phone rate increases may not be an issue on Feb. 2. Dissidents in Riga and Daugavpils plan to take their receivers off the hook in the privacy of their own homes that day. Lattelekom called the intention to disrupt service terrorism, but said that picking up many receivers simultaneously will hurt only subscribers who may need to call emergency help from medical and fire fighting services ...
