Remembering 1991: 'Days of victory'

VILNIUS - Last week Lithuania commemorated its not so distant history - the Soviet aggression of January 1991. People gathered near huge bonfires in front of Parliament as they did eight years ago. Parliament held a special session on Jan. 13, considered by locals the "day of victory." The national tricolor flag was raised on each house. On March 11, 1990, the democratically elected Lithuanian Parliament proclaimed the restoration of the independent Lithuanian state.
