No solution in sight for tire problem

RIGA - As politicians squabble over who is responsible, 1,600 tons of used tires remain stranded in Latvia.The tires were shipped to Riga from Norway late last August. They were then unloaded onto100 train carriages to be transported to a destination in Russia. Eighty-six carriages made it to Rezekne, a border town in eastern Latvia. The remaining 14 carriages stayed in Riga. But Russian customs officials would not allow the cargo into their country and the tires have remained in Latvia since then.During this time, no agreement has been reached as to who is responsible for the tires.
