Prisoner denied Russian doctors

RIGA (BNS) - Pro-Soviet partisan Vasily Kononov, jailed in Latvia after being charged with World War II-era war crimes, does not need Russian doctors to examine him, a judge ruled.Judge Janis Laukroze of the Riga Regional Criminal Court said Kononov is being provided with all necessary medical care from competent Latvian doctors in a prison hospital in Riga."If the prison hospital doctors see that they cannot help somebody, they write us a letter to request medical assistance that can only be provided outside prison," said Laukroze, who noted no such letter had been received.The ruling come...
