Klaipeda improves waste-water plant

KLAIPEDA - The Baltic Sea has lost one of its most serious sources of pollution with the opening of a new waste water treatment plant in Klaipeda.The new facility, which opened Dec. 4, was made possible with grants from the governments of Sweden and Finland, together with a loan from the World Bank."This will immediately improve the water quality of the harbor," said Suante Bodin of the Swedish Environment Ministry.The previous water treatment plant was identified by the Helsinki Commission, the organization in charge of protecting the marine environment of the Baltic Sea, as an environment...
