Expansion could slow after Vienna

RIGA (LETA) - With the European Union's Vienna summit coming up this weekend, a working group from current EU president country Austria has counseled against any discussion of EU expansion that would include a new group of candidate countries.Latvian Foreign Minister Valdis Birkavs told the press that the project has been submitted to the EU General Affairs Council and will be reviewed before this weekend's meeting in Vienna.Birkavs gave no further details since, he said, the Austrian report is a "working project."
