Narva mayor forced into retirement

NARVA (BNS) - The municipal council of the eastern Estonia city of Narva forced the retirement of Mayor Raivo Murd for alleged misuse of public funds.The 31-member council voted 26-2 with three abstensions in favor of retiring Murd, according to Deputy Chairman Nkolai Kulikov.The council aslo decided that all materials from an inquiry into Murd's alleged unauthorized use of public funds will be handed over to the prosecutor's office.A financial scandal flared out in Narva nearly two months ago after information concerning Murd's one-man decision to use public funds as a guarantee to a loan...
