RIGA - Last fall, 600,000 Swedish children ran a three-kilometer course in Stockholm to raise money for their counterparts across the Baltic Sea, in one of the most troubled neighborhoods of Riga.The event was called "Run for Life." Each child paid 10 Swedish crowns to take part in the marathon . Half the money was destined to fund a new drop-in center for youth in the Latgale suburb of Riga; the other half would go to a cancer charity in Sweden. Their efforts have paid off.
