Justice Ministry revives parole system after Maesepp murder

TALLINN - Almost a month after a convicted killer committed a brutal double murder in Rakvere, prisoners are again being released on probation - but under tighter rules. The release of prisoners on parole was temporarily suspended by Justice Minister Paul Varul from Nov. 5 to Nov. 20 after Kalle Maesepp, released a year and two months before the end of his sentence, stabbed to death a husband and wife and sprinkled salt on their bodies.
