VILNIUS (BNS) - In his final speech in a trial for attempted large-scale fraud, on Nov. 6 Lithuanian MP Audrius Butkevicius again maintained he was innocent, but admitted he did not have "deceptive hope or believe" that he would be vindicated."I never acted against the interests of the state, which I helped create, I never promised anyone I would help terminate a case," said the signatory of the March 11th Independence Act, former defense minister and one of the creators of Lithuania's armed forces.Butkevicius's trial has lasted 10 months.
