President Andris Berzins congratulates Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite on re-election, the President's Press Office informed LETA.
Berzins called Grybauskaite on the telephone this morning to congratulate her on re-election and to wish her endurance and every success in attaining her goals for Lithuania.
Lithuania is not only a neighbor of Latvia, it is also one of the most reliable partners of Latvia in various cooperation areas, said Berzins. "I am confident that, during the second term in office, you will succeed at bringing our countries even closer to each other and at pursuing the Baltic countries' interests in the international arena," Berzins told Grybauskaite.
According to preliminary results, Grybauskaite has won the second round of presidential elections in Lithuania, taking 54.84 percent of the vote.
Grybauskaite's closest rival, Social Democrat Zigmantas Balcytis took 43.39 percent of the vote.
