TALLINN – U.S.-based IT company AXS-One is preparing to plunge into the Estonian e-business market.

The American company Computron, founded in 1978, changed its name to AXS-One on Nov. 1 this year in order to move from financial software solutions into e-businesses.

Company CEO John Rade said the company supplies software that enables compatibility of different IT standards to leverage the existing IT infrastructure and investment and adopt it for the Internet.

Non-training intuitive user interface, according to Rade, is what makes their products so attractive. "One of the points is to minimize the work of buyer's IT staff. The e-Celerator is configurable but not programmable," he said.

"We want to provide e-Celerators for e-Stonia," said Rade.

The company has about 500 business clients worldwide and employs 335 people.

Aidan Hoyle, AXS-One regional director for Central and Eastern Europe, said that Estonia is becoming a service center of Scandinavia.

"The competition we expect here involves local and Scandinavian countries, but we are ready to oppose them," said Hoyle. AXS-One Inc. recently registered a branch office in Estonia and has hired one Estonian specialist so far.

Michael Chambers, vice president for Central and Eastern Europe, said: "We see Estonia as developed and - what is more important - a fair market."

Niido Saart, head of Assert, which has been dealing with AXS-One (Computron) products for three years, said they are designed for huge corporations with several branches and divisions.

"For example, Eesti Telefon uses AXS-One solutions, and now we are working on the installation of a similar system in the Bank of Estonia," said Saart.
