A 24 year old woman has been arrested over the death of her son (photo delfi.lv)
A mother has been arrested in Latvia's second largest city, Daugavpils, over the alleged murder of her two year old son.
Police were called to the property on Dec. 28 to find the child had been killed. The 24 year old mother had been arguing with her boyfriend before hitting the child, police say.
Latgale Regional Executive Order Police Department Prevention Bureau Inspector Anastasia Laizāne said an investigation is under way, reports delfi.lv. The boy died from his injuries later.
The mother, who is understood to have another child, is now in custody. Murder in Latvia can be punishable for three to fifteen years and confiscation of property as well as police supervision.
