Andrius Kubilius, Rasa Jukneviciene and Kestutis Masiulis - members of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats Political Group in the Parliament, who are a part of the Temporary Inquiry Commission investigating the situation in the energy sector - have expressed distrust in Chairman of the Commission Arturas Skardzius, reports ELTA.

They urge the leadership of the Parliament and the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party Political Group to immediately withdraw Skardzius from the chairman’s position.

Members of the temporary commission have based their statements on the prime minister’s public criticism of Skardzius, who said that Skardzius acted beyond his powers. The conservatives said that “By proclaiming false information, Skardzius has caused international scandal which could impede further construction of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal.”

Members of the Commission are also sure that by publicly revealing confidential and secret information regarding the LNG terminal construction, equipping the facility and the LNG carrier lease, Skardzius has violated a Statute of the Parliament, the Law on Temporary Commissions of Inquiry and the regulations of the commission.
