Baltics to turn back time

Clocks in the Baltics will turn back by one hour on Sunday, Oct 27. The new time will come into effect at 4 a.m., adhering to winter time rules.

The switch back to summer time will take place on Mar 30, 2014 at 3 a.m. Clocks will need to be switched one hour forward.

Nearly 70 countries around the world regularly switch from summer to winter time. This switch was introduced in Latvia for the first time in 1981.

Starting from 1997, summer time in Latvia is in force from the last Sunday of March to the last Sunday of October.
