RIGA – Corporate plans to close the flower market at the edge of Vermanes Park have been thwarted by a strong display of petal power by the vendors.Late last month, Riga City Council began considering a request to lease the centrally located park to the Man-Tess corporation.The company already had permission from the city to turn an old building located on a corner of the park into an entertainment complex, the Raimonds Pauls Musical Center "Vernisaza."With that project nearly completed, the company came up with other development ideas for the park.A cafe, skating rink and night club were a...
