Estonian caught in Pskov suspected of spying: Estonia refutes Russian claims, calls incident a media bubble

TALLINN - Russia is demanding an explanation from Estonian officials after an Estonian citizen was caught near Pskov and detained for gathering military intelligence. Ville Sonn, 48, was detained Oct. 22 on a military base near Pskov, a region near the Russian-Estonian border. Russian authorities claimed Sonn had been gathering information on the military base as part of an intelligence mission. Interfax reported Oct. 22 that the Russian Federal Security Service had detained Sonn, who admitted acting on an assignment from the Estonian defense forces' General Staff.
