Latvia adopts human rights amendments

RIGA (BNS) - The Latvian parliament adopted amendments to the Constitution Oct. 15, that amount to a Latvian bill of rights.Legal committee member Ilmars Bisers told reporters following the vote that Latvia was one of the few European countries not having included human rights norms in its constitution.The constitutional amendments stipulate that all people are equal in Latvia in front of the law and the court, and human rights are to be observed without any discrimination.
