Lithuania expects EU help for border project

VILNIUS (BNS) – Lithuania is expecting financial assistance from the European Union to demarcate a section of the international border with Belarus.Petras Austrevicius, head of the government's European affairs committee, said Belarus' financial difficulties mean money from Brussels is necessary to complete the project.According to a protocol agreement between Vilnius and Minsk, each state has to demarcate half of their common international border – about 650 kilometers each.Lithuania has been effectively carrying out this work.
