One in three Estonians live in poverty

TALLINN (BNS) – One in three Estonian inhabitants live in poverty and about one in six run the risk of poverty, a recent survey revealed.A survey carried out by Tartu University sociologists with support from the United Nations Development Program found that 36.2 percent of Estonian families live under the poverty line.According to the survey, 18 percent of the people live in abject poverty, with less than 1,000 kroons ($65.83) per family member per month.
