Latvian voters say 'yes' to amendments

RIGA - Latvian voters finally put an end to the citizenship saga Oct. 3 by narrowly voting to support amendments that would ease naturalization for the country's large ethnic Russian minority.Just over two-thirds of the country's voters participated in the referendum on the amendments, the first in Latvia's history. At final count, 53 percent voted in favor and 45 percent against.
