During the first eight months of 2011, wood exports amounted to 773.7 million lats (1.1 billion euros), according to information from the Agriculture Ministry’s Forest Department, reports Nozare.lv. The total amount of wood exports was 17.1 percent higher than in the corresponding period of 2010. Exports of sawn timber and round wood created the most significant share, 190.4 million lats and 117.1 million lats, respectively. Latvia’s main export partners were Sweden with 17.3 percent, Germany with 11.6 percent, and Great Britain with 11.5 percent of exports. Last year, the value of the Latvian forestry sector’s exports beat experts’ forecasts and reached 1.0 billion lats. Overall, forestry exports in 2010 increased 46 percent, whereas wood exports increased 51.3 percent, compared to 2009.

The number of real estate sales-purchase transactions grew by 6 percent in Estonia in the third quarter of this year, while the monetary value of the transactions grew by 30 percent, reports National Broadcasting. In the third quarter of this year, 8,503 transactions were conducted versus 8,012 at the same time last year. The volume of transactions grew from 312.3 million euros to 408 million euros, Land Board statistics show. In the first nine months of this year, 23,255 transactions were conducted (+3.6 percent) and their total value was 1.1 billion euros (+31 percent).
