RIGA (BNS) - President Guntis Ulmanis' veto of amendments to a pension law has saved Welfare Minister Vladimirs Makarovs from resigning over what he called "unfeasible" legislation.The changes passed by the Parliament Sept. 17 would have meant that people who applied for higher pensions after they continued working after retirement would not have to pay back the social security they had already received.
