Occupation probe will take years, official says

VILNIUS (BNS) - It will take "years, not months," for the international commission to investigate the crimes of the Nazi and Soviet occupation regimes in Lithuania, its members say. The commission was formed by the President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus on Sept. 7.The commission will seek "accurate and impartial answers to the much-speculated-on questions about who were the Jew-killers, how many there were and what made them do it," commission member and presidential adviser on Jewish-Lithuanian issues, Julius Smulkstys, told BNS.
