ESTONIAN FARMERS NEED SUBSIDIES: Estonia's rural parties are asking for subsidies from the country's economic stabilization fund for farmers suffering from crop failure, the Eesti Paevaleht newspaper reported. Rural Union Chairman Arvo Sirendi said the parties will ask for up to 200 to 300 million kroons ($13.8 million to $20.7 million). "That money would not be to compensate for loss, but to permit farmers to continue agricultural production," Sirendi said.
