Parnu man charged with crimes against humanity

TALLINN - A 78-year-old Parnu man, suspected of taking part in the organization of Stalin-era mass deportations, has been charged with crimes against humanity, the security police have revealed. Mikhail Neverovski, who served with the Parnu department of the then-Soviet Security Ministry, was charged Aug. 28 with contributing to the deportation of 281 people to Siberia in 1949. According to the indictment, Neverovski is accused of checking where families were living and how many people were in those families at the time the deportations were being prepared.
