MELBOURNE, Australia– Ernests Gulbis has crashed out of the Australian Open, falling to unseeded German Benjamin Becker in the first round. Going into the tournament seeded 24, Gulbis was expected to make it to at least the round of 32 but he failed to impress in his opening match, falling to Becker in straight sets 6-7 (5-7) 2-6 4-6.
