Berankis through to second round in Brisbane

BRISBANE, Australia – Lithuanian Richard Berankis has begun the 2010 ATP tour in winning fashion, knocking out Frenchman Arnaud Clement 6-4 6-3. It was a satisfying result for the 20 year old Lithuanian, given he had to go through qualifying just to make the main draw. Clement (78), ranked nine places above Berankis (87) in the current ATP rankings at no stage looked like seriously threatening the Lithuanian. Berankis took Clement to break point on nine occasions, breaking him on five.
