Precipitation in Estonia hits record high

TALLINN - The summer of '98, which saw 385 millimeters of rain, was the wettest summer of the last 50 years, according to the Estonian Meterological Institute, breaking the previous record of 345 millimeters set in 1978.According to Kulla Kivi of the institute, Estonia received more than double the average amount of precipitation it usually does. The eastern and southeastern regions were the wettest while the people of Saaremaa and the western part of the country had the least amount of rainfall.
