RIGA - Latvia's "Unity" political block, which won the country's early-October general elections to remain in power, has officially named its candidates for the country's new government.
The announcement came following weeks of political wrangling as Unity struggled to maintain cohesion among its politically diverse members.
The party's candidates for the country's top positions include:
Prime Minister - Valdis Dombrovskis (incumbent)
Parliamentary Speaker - Solvita Aboltina
Foreign Affairs Ministry - Girts Valdis Kristovskis
Finance Ministry - Andris Vilks
Economy Ministry - Artis Kampars (incumbent)
Defense Ministry - Artis Pabriks
Justice Ministry - Aigars Stokenbergs
Interior Ministry - Linda Murniece (incumbent)
Culture Ministry - Sarmite Elerte
