REACTORS BACK IN ACTION: The first reactor of Lithuania's Ignalina nuclear plant was put back in operation Aug. 3 after two and a half months of safety checking. The State Nuclear Energy Safety Inspectorate has established that the safety indices of the first power block correspond to international safety standards and, on these grounds, the inspectorate has issued a five year license for further operations.
