Supporters of Drasius Kedys have held a protest campaign near the Prosecutor General’s Office to demand an explanation from Prosecutor General Darius Valys about the investigation into the pedophilia case, reports ELTA. A group of ten people gathered near the Prosecutor General’s Office on July 8. Protesters held posters with the words “Who killed Kedys?”, “When will allegations be brought against Stankunaite?”, “Will you investigate the pedophilia case finally?” The protesters wanted to hand in a broom with the surnames of the prosecutors who had investigated the so-called Kaunas pedophilia case to the prosecutor general. The supporters of Kedys handed in a document to the prosecutor general asking to answer over ten questions related to the pedophilia case.

Only two people (0.2 percent) out of over a thousand respondents consider the work of the government headed by Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius favorably, reports ELTA. Of those polled, 8.6 percent said that they viewed the work more favorably than unfavorably, while 41.6 percent saw it more unfavorably than favorably; 41.8 percent expressed their dissatisfaction with the Cabinet’s work. Another 7.8 percent of the polled did not answer the question or had no opinion. Political scientist Lauras Bielinis said that the government absorbed bad emotions and only an economic upturn could rescue it from this pit of no-confidence. The respondents tended to prefer Seimas Speaker Irena Degutiene (20.2 percent) and leader of the Social Democrats Algirdas Butkevicius (11.5 percent) to Kubilius in the prime minister’s office.
