New British ambassador supports Lithuania

VILNIUS (BNS) - Britain's new ambassador to Lithuania, Christopher Robbins, who handed in his credentials to President Valdas Adamkus on Aug. 10, promised to do his utmost "to help the strengthening of the country."Speaking at the accreditation ceremony, the diplomat said that the British Embassy, which has expanded threefold lately, will continue trying to guarantee London's political support to Vilnius.Robbins said the embassy will also encourage investments and mediate in British assistance to the Lithuanian army.
