Lithuanian president admits Butinge may be dangerous

RIGA - After serious flaws in the construction of the Butinge oil terminal were made public last week, Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus has conceded that the Butinge oil terminal could pose a serious risk to the environment."The facts require extremely serious consideration," Adamkus told the ELTA news agency. "Poor terminal construction works may give rise to disastrous ecological outcomes for the whole country."The president was reacting to an article in the Aug. 14 edition of the Lithuanian newspaper Respublika which reported that the pipelines that feed the oil terminal were at risk ...
