VISAGINAS (BNS) - Preparations have started at the Ignalina nuclear power plant to shut down the first of two reactors now that the state's Nuclear Energy Safety Inspectorate says it will not issue a new operating license.The complete shutdown of the reactor has been scheduled for May 20, the Ignalina nuclear power plant administration reported.The chief engineer of the plant, Genadiy Negrivoda, said the plant asked permission May 17 from state energy utility Lietuovs Energija to begin the shutdown.Negrivoda said that the complete shutdown of the reactor will be carried out in three days i...
