The lesson to be drawn from France's victory in the World Cup may not be immediately apparent in a Baltic context, but it is there nevertheless. It is a good thing occasionally to lose one's bearings, and that is what happened to us in France this summer. July is an organized month. Its' rituals are familiar: Tour de France, Bastille Day, and all over France, tourists. Lots of them. But for once, things have been different. Outside the football towns, barely a soul turned up.
