RIGA – The European Commission would have "a disappointment to digest" if citizenship amendments are voted down in a public referendum, said Hans van den Broek, the European Union (EU) foreign affairs commissioner, during a one day visit to Riga.The comment was made at a press conference held July 20 following a public speech by van den Broek on the EU enlargement process.The amendments would secure Latvia's future and avoid the creation of a divided society.
